Call it the eight wonder of the World and your statement won’t be a mistake. It is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the world tallest building. Burj Khalifa which means “Khalifa Tower” was officially named to honour the leader of the neighbouring emirate of Abu Dhabi,Sheikh Khalifa ibn Zayed Al Nahyan. It was designed by Chicago architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merill. William Baker is the structural engineer while Adrian Smith served as the architect.

Its inauguration on January 2010 broke record as it surpassed the (Taipei Financial Center) building in Taipei, Taiwan as the most tallest building in the world. A building of exploration.

Burj Khalifa is valued at $ 930 million with height 828 m. Also a record-breaking building with interesting qualities. It holds the record for the tallest building in the world, tallest free-standing structure in the world, highest occupied floor in the world and lot more. The Burj Khalifa is a staggering 828 meters (2716.5 feet) tall, located in Dubai. It has the highest number of stories in the world and the tallest service elevator in the world. Every year 15 million gallons of water are collected sustainably, the water is used for irrigation to water the landscaping and plants, to ensure cooling and to supply the beautiful Dubai Fountain.

Before the project was completed, over 12,000 workers mainly from South Asia worked on the building everyday. The excavation began in 2004. The sphere is designed like an Hymenocallis flower. It is reportedly said that you can’t see outside while in the elevator. It is also the tallest freestanding structure in the world and it also houses the world longest restaurant.

The aluminium used in building the Burj Khalifa weighs as much as 5 Airbus A380 airliners. The exterior of the Burj Khalifa is actually covered with 26,000 glass panels, amazing. The building was supposed to be called Burj Dubai, but it was changed to honour Sheikh Khalifa who happens to be the ruler of Dubai. According to some sources, it takes three month to clean the windows from top to bottom. The sun sets twice on the building everyday. About 10,000 people are always in the Burj Khalifa at any given time.
